Dining in Beijing
The district of jian Guo Men Wai and Ri Tan caters for fine dining as
well as great fast food. The fast food in this city is actually very healthy
compared to Western fast food. But some will be glad to know that there
is a McDonalds here in the city.
For the more adventurous, try the 'Once Upon a Time' Restaurant which
focuses on exotic Middle Eastern dishes. There is also some Mexican restaurants
like the Mexican Wave, which serves up some decent Tex - Mex grub. One
Chinese restaurant that is well recommended is the Xi He Ya Ju restaurant
near to the Ri Tan Park and has great prices, a romantic courtyard atmosphere,
and truly great food. Italian restaurants are also found here, and no
better than Adria, which specialises in wood fired pizzas that will make
you want to stay a little longer.
Near the Northeast Third Ring Road one can find lots of restaurants. The
Red Basil offers some great Thai food in a lovely setting. The Asian Star
also has Thai food on sale but offers very good prices. There are Malaysian
and Indian restaurants around here as well lots of Chinese restaurants.
For some great Japanese food at very reasonable prices, visit the San
Si Lang restaurant, which is a real gem. The sushi is also top class.
There is also the usual American restaurant like the TGI Fridays, as well
as the Hard Rock Cafe which also sells some great tee- shirts. For some
South American food, the Salsa Cabana will liven up your dining experience
with some
festive spirit.
San Li Tun area has a great reputation for being a cool and hip area.
Try out the Golden Elephant for some great Indian dishes. The western
cafes in downtown are popular for the burgers and chips and pub menu.
Places like Durty Nellies, Franks Place and the Downtown cafe will cater
for the westerner. Berenas Bistro will serve you up a lovely spice Sichuanese.
